“To Do” Verb in Present Tense

“To do” is the second primary auxiliary verb.

The verb “to do” is used to represent the action done by someone.

“To do” (Primary auxiliary verb) is similar to “to be” verb. The conjugation of “to do” in present tense follows the same pattern (Subject + verb).

“Do verb” has only one meaning,

i. An action done by someone.

Examples :

He does his homework.

ii. Actions done by many people.

Examples :

Employees do their work.

Example sentences of “to do verb” using the conjugation :

I do my work.
You do your work.
He does his project.
He does an action.
She does her work.
This person does a work.
That boy does a project.
We do our work.
They do their work.
These people do their work.
Those children do their homework.

Note :
  1. A combination of I and me, You and your, He and his,
    She and her, It and its, We and our, They and their can be
    added to the sentences. These are called the pronouns.
  2. In “to do” verb sentences, the combination of pronouns
    are used as (I and me, You and your, He and his, She and
    her, It and its, We and our, They and their). Instead of
    these pronouns, (a / an / the) can be used in the sentence.

Example :

  1. I do my work.
    I do a work.
  2. He does his project.
    He does a project.
  3. Mostly “to do” verb is used to mention the work done by someone.
  4. When sentences are created using (this / that) additional word can be added to the subject as,
    This kid does a craft.
    This boy does a work.
    That person does a work.
    That girl does a project.
    Similar rule is applied for (These and Those).

Example:

These children do their project.
These kids do their homework.
Those policemen do their duty.
(Policeman = policemen) (sing/plu).
Those girls do their project.
