“To Have Verb” in Past tense

It describes about the possession or belonging of someone in the past. The word “had” remains the same in all sentences.

Convert the subject of the sentences as directed :
  1. I have a pen. (Use “she” instead of “I”)
  2. He has a smart phone. (Use “You” instead of “He”)
  3. You have an imported car. (Use “she” instead of “you”)
  4. She has a dog. (Use “we” instead of “she”)
  5. We have a house in the next street. (Use “they” instead of “we”)
NOTE:
  1. In the place of “subject”, the basic words I, You, He, She,
    It, We, etc., are used. These basic words can be replaced
    with names.

For example:

Names like Ria, Sara, etc., is used for “She”.
Names like Tom, John, etc., is used for “He”.

2. Plural forms can be used in the place of subject.

For example:

My friend and I / My mom and I / Leah and I, etc,.
In the place of the subject, it cannot be mentioned as “My friend and me” are in the shop.

or

“Me and my friend” are in the shop.
Both are incorrect.
The correct format is “My friend and I” are in the shop.

In the begining of the sentence, importance should be given to the second person as My friend or with any particular name and “I” is mentioned in the sentence.

Examples:

“My dad and I” had a wonderful drive.
“John and I” were in the park.
“Ema and I” did a project together.

  1. To mention a group of people, an important person and
    about oneself in the same sentence.

The sentence should be built as follows:

  • Group of people – Should always be the first preference.
  • An important / special person – Second preference.
  • Oneself – Third preference.

For example:

“My friends, my cousin and I” went to the market.

  1. ”My friends” – a group of people which should be the
    first preference to be mentioned in the subject place.
  2. ”My cousin”- special/important person should be the
    second preference to be mentioned in the place of the
    subject.
  3. ”I”- decribes oneself which should be the last/third part
    of the sentence.
  4. “Me” should not be used in the place of subject.
