Definition: Be verb is used
1. To describe a person/ thing/ animal :
Some of the describing words are fat, thin, beautiful, handsome, short, tall, big, small, etc.
Example:
- She is beautiful.
- He is short.
- I am tall.
- You are thin.
2. To tell a state:
Words like happy, tired, excited, ready, exhausted, glad, eager, hungry, etc., can be used to tell a state.
Example:
- She is happy.
- I am tired.
- We are ready.
3. To show identity:
“A/An” article is added in the sentence to show an identity. Words like dancer, singer, boy, girl, student, etc., can be used.
Example:
- I am a girl.
- You are a student.
- She is a dancer.
4. To address people/things:
This form of “be verb” is used to address people or things with names.
Example:
- He is John.
- I am Raj.
- This is a table.
- That is an auto.
5. To show quality:
Words like awesome, clever, intelligent, good, talented, extraordinary, clever, stupid, bad, kind, etc., can be used to mention the quality.
Example:
- She is intelligent.
- It is good.
- He is clever.
6. To mention the location:
(In / At) is used after the verb to mention the location. Places like school, house, shop, mall, airport, etc., can be used to mention the locations.
Example:
- She is in the school.
- He is in the shop.
- We are in the house.
7. To mention the profession:
(A/An) is used in the sentence to mention the profession. Teacher, pilot, engineer, doctor, driver, etc., are some of the professions.
Example:
- He is a pilot.
- You are a scientist.
- He is an engineer.
8. To mention the colours:
To mention about the colours in a sentence, (colour name + in colour) is used after the verb.
Example:
- It is red in colour.
- This is pink in colour.
- Plants are green in colour.
9. To mention the age:
“Be verb” is used to mention the age.
Example:
- She is seven years old.
- He is 4 years old.
- My mom is 30 years old.
10. To tell that a person is in a particular event:
(A / An / The) is used in the sentence to mention events like meeting, marriage, function, etc.
Example:
- He is in a meeting.
- She is in a function.

Tenses are of three types,
- Present Tense
- Past Tense
- Future Tense
Based on each tense, “be verb” takes different forms.
These forms can be mentioned using “Conjugation method”.

Simple sentence can consist of minimum 3 words including (Subject and verb).
