Readers Club: – Reinforcing the Reading Habit :

I recently had a burden on my mind thinking of something that is important for this generation. Let’s say from millennials to gen Z, gen Z to gen Alpha, everybody is bound to 1 thing – AI, which is a boon where everyone welcomes it including me. As we are in the AI era, we are depending so much on smart phones, social media, You Tube and so on. But the burden that disturbs my mind is that we forgot a major habit that we inculcated for years and years. It is “THE READING” habit which most of us don’t bother.

Though we get all the information through AI and on the different websites and on e-platforms, including the e book platforms, are we using it precisely? We have a handful of applications for reading online books like Amazon Kindle, Google Play Books, Apple Books, Kobo Books and a lot. In these platforms, you get free books too. But only 50% of the people are using these effectively and we forget the significance of reading. Reading habit is the most valuable one we should implement in our lives.

“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” – Margaret Fuller

Let’s see the benefits of the reading habit:

1. Let’s see the benefits of the reading habit:

There is a plenty of books available all over the world. Every book teaches us something that we may not know. The books are full of knowledge with information, either it can be on history, technology, science, life lessons or anything that we seek for. When you keep on reading, you will be filled with knowledge and that will help you to communicate confidently in an intellectual way and will make you smarter.

2. Reading habit can boost your brain power:

Reading can improve our concentration, and strengthens our brain connection. It will also increase our focus. Reading always make our brain active as how we exercise for our body. Reading makes our mind relaxed and stress free too. When you have the habit of reading every day, you will have a mental clarity of what you want to gain for your development. It can calm your mind and reduces anxiety too.

As a reader, what do you think on the basis of reading a book as a hard copy and reading the same using the gadgets? There is a huge difference in it right? And the hard copy brings the major difference. When you read books as hard copies, it gives a different exposure where you will never get it when you read using gadgets. The smell of the paper, holding a book in the hand and feeling the touch of the pages give more connection and involvement.

Also, you will not be distracted out of notifications and you will not browse anything in between as you do in gadgets often. You will be much focused and interested in reading. In fact, you will do it mindfully.

On these positive notes, as the CEO of Kirubha School of Languages, I would like to reinforce the habit of reading in this AI era, where most of us lost our reading habit in this busy world.

The great leaders and successful people of past and present have the habit of reading and that’s where the books built them as who they are and who they were. I wish all our millennials, gen Zs and gen alphas should at least read 2 to 3 hours in a week and that can be brought in to a habit by bringing a thought of a concept called as “ COFFEE & BOOKS” of KSL READERS CLUB both offline and online gathering where it happens regularly on weekends all over the world with a particular timing where all readers are welcome for online gathering or offline gathering with their own hard copies of favorite genre. You will read your book for 2 complete hours without distractions and a small discussion on books can be given in the gathering where others can also get to know about the books existing and a glimpse of it from the real reader.

If any of the frequent readers are interested to be the “Chapter Head” of our “ COFFEE & BOOKS” of KSL READERS CLUB where you feel like you can be the motivator, you are welcome to be a part of our Team and let’s rebuilt the reading culture in the AI ERA.
